Introducing the HidroAysen conflict

We were thinking about Aysen Region in the Chilean Patagonia. About the incredible impact HidroAysen could generate, and the damage that it is generating now. How people were confronted with their neighbors, and how big untrustworthy companies , and 99% of the population of a country can sacrifice an unbelievable place like Aysen with an amazing biodiversity, unforgettable landscapes and citizens .
HidroAysen is mega project, owned by Endesa (which in turn is owned by ENEL, that is a European company), and Colbun (mostly Chilean). HidroAysen is a project that claims to be sustainable to the environment by building 5 huge dams Patagonia, which is one of the less touched places on Earth.
HidroAysen plans to build 2 dams on the Baker River and 3 on the Pascua River. The waters compromised in this project are in part shared with Argentina, in part “owned” by this companies, and the rest of them are still in “private hands”.
HidroAysen project is being revised by Chilean Environmental authorities.

Hemos estado pensando sobre la Region de Aysen en la Patagonia chilena. Pensabamos en el impacto que HidroAysen podria generar, y sobre el dano que esta generando ahora. Como la gente ha sido confrontada con sus vecinos, y como companias grandes y poco confiables, y el 99% de la poblacion de un pais puede sacrificar un lugar de biodiversidad impresionante, inolvidables paisajes y gente.
HidroAysen es un mega proyecto, cuyos duenos son Endesa (que es parte de ENEL, que es una compania europea) y Colbun (en su mayor parte chilena). HidroAysen es un proyecto que se dice sustentable con el medioambiente, construyendo 5 enormes represas en la Patagonia, uno de los lugares mas pristinos de la Tierra.
HidroAysen planea la construccion de 2 represas en el Rio Baker y 3 en el Rio Pascua. Las aguas comprometidas en el proyecto estan en parte compartidas con Argentina, en parte son “propiedad” de las companias involucradas y el resto aun pertenece a “manos privadas”
El proyecto HidroAysen esta siendo revisado por las autoridades medioambientales chilenas.
